Went the first time for brunch buffet, was terrible. Thought I would try it a second time as the first visit may have been a fluke, it was decent. The orange juice is horrible, would never order it again. It is an okay place to go if you don't want to wait for seating at the Pine Cone. The omelet station is good, as are the roasts, the bbq pork. Biscuits and gravy was decent.

I would only recommend this place for drinks. I'm a Johnson Creek local and have tried this place numerous times, hoping for better results. Simply put, the food is awful. It has a decent atmosphere at the bar - just stay away from the food!

Service and food absolutely horrible. My wife ordered a burger medium came out gray in the middle and about as juicy as the charcoal it resembled. My daughter ordered Alfredo which was watery and tasteless. Manager was told and didn't seem to care and comped the entire bill as if this type of thing was common. I would suggest avoiding this place

A table of 5 ordered 2 wraps and 3 chicken pitas and our food took a whole hour. This isn't rocket science. Our server was very nice, but you would think after apologizing for how long it was taking a gesture of 10% off or a round of drinks or something would have been offered. Even if the manager would have stopped by to apologize would have been welcomed. It seems that the kitchen was very inexperienced- bacon was so over cooked and inedible, the sweet potato fries were so undercooked that they were soggy and limp. Sad to say it was a HUGE waste of money. Run far, far away from Highway Hary's.

We love HiWay's for drinks! Sitting on the patio listening to Marley and drinking ice cold cocktails is the life. Our bartender has been keeping an eye on us and attending to our every need. If you're looking for a real nice place to have drinks and start an evening out with some class, Hiway Harry's is the place to go in the Johnson Creek, Jefferson, Watertown area.

The inside is beautiful! The bar is great too. I had a lot of fun waiting for my reservation. The restaurant was very busy (my reservation was at 6:30 pm). Once I got seated, there was this one waitress that kept sprinting past my table... Then I received the wrong soup after they forgot about it once. It was not very hot either :( I would probably go back sometime, maybe during the day when it is not that busy.

Sorry Harry....2 hour wait for a salad that consisted of lettuce and 2 slices of tomato doesn't cut it for me. Not to mention the main dishes that we got to go because we were sick of waiting.....Not tasty after having to warm in the microwave :( very disappointed for the cost and no apologies or any discounts...Will not return or recommend....

Great decor; however the restaurant was freezing cold... I like cool air as much as anyone, but they could have hung beef in the dining room... I ordered the 14oz. Ribeye with mushrooms... I asked for medium rare... I received a steak that may have been 10 ounces at best, and it was only 1/2 inch thick... And, because of how thin it was, the steak probably passed medium rare in a few seconds... I got a well done product... It was unseasoned and had the texture of pounded meat... A tremendous disappointment, to say the least... The green beans were cooked properly, but again were bland... I had to salt and pepper everything, and I NEVER put salt or pepper on anything... Well, I guess I can't say that anymore... The baked potato was dry. I ordered it loaded with sour cream on the side... They loaded it alright... No butter in it, a teaspoon of shredded cheddar if I am lucky, and 5 or 6 bacon bits... Oh yeah, the sour-cream? That was Hellmann's mayonnaise... I am pretty sure they are not even the same food group... The potato was unsalted too... The only thing good was the healthy portion of Apothic Red Wine that they brought me... Perhaps that was to make me forget how bad the food was...

Highway Harry's, a "unique casual dining" experience. That is what their sign says and it's definitely true. Stopped in after shopping nearby because I had never been and wanted something new. The sign intrigued me, "unique casual dining". We stepped inside and were just blown away. It was like stepping back in time to the older fancier fine dining steak houses. Dark lighting with rich colors. High back circle booth made for two. Wait staff dressed like you are in a higher class dining place. I was impressed by the ambiance for sure, but that is about all unfortunately. The menu is small with not many selections. I decided to try something different, I was feeling adventurous so I ordered something I would not normally order out. (Bacon wrapped pork tenderloins) My husband got the special for the day (Parmesan crusted fish with pink peppercorn risotto) The pork was ok but I have to say I've had better at home and that is not saying much about that dish then. My husband's fish was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like the fish was coated in cheese, took a frying pan and sprayed it with cooking spray and that is how it was cooked. The cheese coating was burnt and the whole thing tasted horrible. It wasn't worth sending back since we already knew we would never be back so he scraped off the coating and tried to eat it. I gave him some of my pork and potato so at least he could eat something. It was definitely a "unique casual dining" experience. Fine dining look and prices with low quality food. I think I would rather hit one of the fast food places around if in the area again.

My family stopped here last weekend for lunch at about 1pm. The restaurant was maybe half full with a few parties going on in private rooms, nothing out of the ordinary. We were seated by an unfriendly hostess a few minutes after walking in. Our waitress stopped by the table and told us she would try to get back as soon as possible to take our drink order...red flag #1...it wasn't busy but whatever, maybe she's new?? 10 minutes later a drink order was taken along with our food order because there was no way we were going to chance another wait....red flag #2. 45 minutes later our food arrived. Nothing out of the ordinary to cause such a delay...a few wraps and sandwiches...red flag #3. The bacon on one of the wraps was not edible. When I think bacon on a wrap or sandwich I imagine a few tasty little strips, doesn't even have to be thick cut, just something with a little flavor and texture. Well the bits that were scraped off the floor and put onto my food were equal to maybe a half strip of bacon and had the consistency of gravel. Obviously the the kitchen staff was in need of some major help. Under-cooked fries, big ugly lumps of chicken in the wraps, kind of reminded me of middle school lunch, wait that was better than this, at least it was edible. All the other tables in our section were experiencing the same thing as us, poor service and poor food. What really sealed the deal was when our server told us that they weren't seating people for 20 minutes until the kitchen caught up...it was 2:30 in the afternoon people, were not talking about a Friday night rush here. I feel sorry for whoever has money tied up in this place because the end has got to be near. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to the other restaurant or even better, just keep driving and try not to thing about how hungry you are because the feeling in your stomach after you eat there food isn't fun.

Not sure why I keep trying. I keep hoping it will get better. Beautiful building and atmosphere. Good beer selection. Unfortunately I've had a number of disappointing meals. The prior time I had a very fatty prime rib. This time I had a beautiful tuna steak that came cold. It wasn't just not hot; it was Cold! The only thing consistently good is the Sunday brunch. Great variety and delicious. But if you want a fine dining experience, go somewhere else.

Went there twice. The place is beautiful but the food not so good. Last time we were there was valentines 5 years ago. I had prime rib and it was gray and bland. I wish I had sent it back. The time before the food was Luke warm. You can get better food across the street at the truck stop. It's sad because I really love the atmosphere. They need to hire a chief. Maybe things have changed but my family won't go back.

There was only one reason I gave 1 star and that was for the ambiance. The atmosphere gave it a 4 to 5 star restaurant feel. We went in a quarter to 6 pm and had to wait because most of the tables were reserved. That was understandable because it was close to the main dinner hour. We had a 20 min wait in the bar area where we had a drink. When we were finally seated we were there for 10 min before anyone came around. It wasn't our waitresses, we had to ask for her to come to us and wait on us. Who really knows how long we would have had to wait, but 10 min was long enough before I said something. Since we waited long enough we order an appetizer and our dinners all at once. We already had our drinks from the bar. We also wanted to get our order in before the "big table" next to us (table of 12) and a "couple" that just sat down to the other side. Mission accomplished ... so we thought. Our appetizer came out within 10 min. Then salads started to come out for the "big table". So we thought we should be next...right? Wrong. The "couple" started to get their food. The manager came by and asked them if everything was alright. He looked over at our table and walked away. The food started to come out to the "big table". The "big table" finished and boxed their food and we yet to have our food. So now we were getting very ornery and hungry. Enough was enough so I went to the manager thinking it would be better. I told the manager that we haven't got our food. I explained all the above to him. The manager told me he would check to see what happened. Never did apologize. He came to our table and said that since we had medium steak and we'll done burger it took longer than the other tables. I said "come on really". He still didn't apologize and came to argue his point. My wife told me it was not worth arguing with him because it's clear he doesn't care what we had to say. For a manager to do that was very unprofessional. We finished our food which was very delicious. The quality of food was perfect for the price. It us just too bad the management and service was ver very disappointing.

My family and I stopped here for lunch and they were unable to seat us. They said it would be over 45 min. The thing I don't understand is the parking lot was less than half full. They probably did not want to deal with 3 young children. Well they lost our business.

  • Karri G.

I ordered the stuffed mushrooms, and though I appreciate that the restaurant tried a different twist, the alfredo/cheese sauce left the dish soggy and uninteresting. I also tried the walleye sandwich, and interestingly, the bread was better than the walleye fillet. The interior decor seems a bit...as though the drawings and dreams were big but they realized halfway through the project that it would cost too much so began to cut corners. To their credit, the service was good. However, all in all, I was disappointed.

Ambiance is big for me, so I have to give it stars for that. Stepping into Hi-Way Harry's has the feel of martinis, Frank Sinatra and Mad Men-era classiness. The rich colors, falling water, and fireplace make it a romantic atmosphere. But that's where it ends. As locals, we've been there many times and each time the operational practices and food just seem to get worse. Recent visit for lunch: Our waiter was excellent. He didn't look much older than high school, but he was pleasant and attentive. The food delivery system, however, was awkward, which then reflected poorly on the wait staff. We happened to be seated where we could see kitchen staff bring trays stacked with covered dinners, set them on a stand in the middle of the dining area, and walk away. The dinners then sat there until someone had a chance to deliver them. Their system of clearing tables was equally in-your-face obtrusive. Dirty dishes were apparently taken to a central location, where they were left to accumulate until they filled a cart. The cart was then wheeled through the dining area to, I suppose, the kitchen. Really, I'd prefer not seeing a huge load of dirty dishes coming by while I'm eating. The food definitely needs improvement. The ingredients were nothing better than chain food and did not match the standards of the classy environment. Rusty lettuce in my salad, store-bought buns for the french dip sandwich, questionable dilutions to the sour cream...it just didn't make the grade. For such prices and decor, I expect well-crafted quality and this just wasn't it.

After a fun trip to the Johnson creek outlet, I started my search for a restaurant in the area and I found Hi-way Harry's, once we found it I was not sure if it was the right one, but we were starving so what the heck, we decided to take the risk. Once I opened the door my jaw fell, it has very high ceilings and a fountain inside, wow, I thought, maybe the food will be good (like if a nice decoration would guarantee you to have a good meal), of course not, but sometimes when you are so hungry you tend to get confused (at least it happens to me), anyway, once we were seated, we had to wait 14 minutes until a server noticed us. I ordered a Chicken Caesar Wrap (dressing on the side) and it was really good, the cubed chicken was tender with a delicious chargrilled flavor, romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp and to be honest I didn't even need the dressing. My boyfriend had a cashew chicken salad sandwich, it came in a sweet croissant with some celery and carrots and a bunch of cashews, for me, it looked like a soggy mess and I was right because he ate just half of it. I liked their wrap but I don't think it is worth a half hour drive.

I wish I could give it no stars. This place is the absolute worst! They gave me a half of a cup of old lukewarm coffee. Wtf am I supposed to do with that? On top of that it had a ring in the cup!!! Like it had been sitting with the previous customer!!! When I mentioned it they promised to take care of it and brought me another half cup!!! WTF.... We ordered the pan fried walleye and I had mash and mixed veg both ice cold my wife had baked potato and veg cold too.... We asked for the usual toppings butter, sour cream, brought sour cream but guess what the chick brought us mayo!!! Is this some sick joke? We should have left with the cold coffee but we were so hungry from shopping we thought that was the only thing around until....we looked under the bridge, so sad,so sad. We will not be returning.

I stopped in to Hi-Way Harry's after a day at the outlet mall just across "da highway der" and I was completely shocked when I walked inside. I expected a chain-restaurant esque joint, but was surprised to see the unique ambience the place has. It's sort of a two-way cross between a country club and a supper club as far as the looks go. As for the service, I thought it was top notch. We were never without water, or an empty glass of any kind. I went with the fish fry because it was Friday, but my friend's tried the pasta special. It was something with crab, and they thought it was the bomb. All in all, if I'm ever in Johnson Creek again, I'll stop in for seconds.

It's ok. The food is decent enough, but it's too expensive for what you get. The servers are attentive and the dining area is comfortable and dim.

Hi-Way Harry's has been an excellent meeting place for myself and a friend from Madison throughout the years. The staff has always been kind by allowing us to visit, sometimes for upwards of four hours, but what really impressed me was the positive dining experience that my family had last night. It was my Mother's 75th birthday yesterday and my 3 siblings and I wanted to acknowledge her birthday by surprising her. As I had mentioned, it was a surprise, and without the caring hostess and waitstaff, it would not have been possible to pull that surprise off. It was refreshing to observe how much they wanted to help vs. an inconvenience. HH's accommodated my large family in a private room, which was perfect for catching up with one another. The service was excellent along with the food. My husband had the fish special, I had a vegan dish, and my picky teenager had a cheeseburger. We were all very satisfied, as the place is pricier, which is not a problem if the food is worth the price. I want to thank the staff that we dealt with for making my Mother's day extra special.

Kind vegetarian readers, I suggest you avoid this establishment as there is very little on the menu aside from "creamy pasta hold the chicken" or grilled cheese to satiate your appetite. Much of the menu consists of steaks and chicken with your standard steak-house side dishes. The interior boasts an indoor fountain and a supper club-ey atmosphere. On Sundays, they host a brunch which was amazing the first time and extremely not amazing on the second visit. They do, however, have a full bar which can be helpful for a sort-of-vegetarian when navigating Hi-Way Harry's selections.

My family headed to Johnson Creek to eat at the Pine Cone Restaurant. It was about noon on a Sunday and the place was packed. There were about 30 people waiting for a table so we tried to find somewhere else to eat. Right across the street was Hi-way Harry's with no wait for a table. I was a little worried because of the mediocre reviews but we were hungry and there wasn't much else around except fast food. Cool ambiance. As other reviewers have stated, it's classy. They were serving their Sunday buffet. When we were seated, we expected to get menus but discovered that if you come during their buffet, that's all there is. Oh, well. Some of the food on the buffet was really good like the turkey which is carved in front of you, the bbq pulled pork, and the broccoli. Some of it was so-so or not so good such as the fish, eggs benedict, and the "in a bunch of broken, little pieces" bacon. The buffet wasn't well attended to at all. The salad bar, the fruit bar, the salmon and the dessert table all needed to be refilled. The cold shrimp didn't have any type of serving utensil such as tongs anywhere around and because I assumed other people had to use their fingers to pick up the shrimp, I didn't get any. Yech. The service was really nice and attentive so that was a plus, but I'm not sure if I'd take my chances with this place again.

I'm going to say this is a rip off. Out of towners beware. I ordered the "colossal" gulf shrimp broiled with vegetables. Little did I know this meant I would receive 4 cold medium sized shrimp that tasted like they never touched a broiler and what looked like canned corn with pepper sprinkled on top. The cheddar and potato soup I got with my meal was ok but under seasoned. For $20 I would expect a lot better than that. And not have to fend off a very persistent gnat from my food the entire time. I will not go back. The best part of my meal was the butter for the bread.

I have recently moved to the area and have admittedly only visited this place once. The waiter we had was very friendly and useful in the process of ordering dinner. My wife and I both ordered pasta. I was informed that the dish I initially wanted to order had sugar added to the sauce, I am not a fan of sugar in my pasta sauce and therefore was very happy to have that knowledge. The waiter recommended an alternate pasta dish which turned out to be quite good. My wife was very happy with her shrimp pasta dish as well. The atmosphere was very pleasant and actually surprising. It is quiet and dimly lit which gives the place a romantic feel. I personally did not think the place was expensive and was pleasantly surprised by the place and my experience. I hope to go back and their rating may very well go up a star if they continue to please.

This steakhouse is near my in-law's house and it's the place we go to for a nicer dinner when my wife and I come to visit. Not just because it's the nicest place around (there are other nice places in Watertown if you know where to look) but because the service is good, the food is consistently superior, the decor is gorgeous without demanding pretense from the customers, the cocktails are generous, and my wife can always get the fresh walleye that she craves and cannot find in California. The food is uniformly superior in quality and the service is uniformly friendly. We've been here several times and are certain to be back again.

we went to Hi-Way Harry's for a Sunday brunch. the price was unbeatable and the selection was so diverse. they also had drink specials for Mimosas and Bloody Mary. Overall it was OK. the staff was friendly. the buffet wasn't being constantly refilled which was somewhat of a disappointment. the basics were all there (eggs, bacon, hash browns) and were all good. I wish they had worked a little more on their desserts as they were all very unimpressive. the Salmon wasn't cut or attended to, so after the upper half was consumed the bottom one was just sitting there as no customers would risk trying to turn it over! I would definitely go back there for their full menu when I go back shopping at Johnson Creek!

Wow, what a brunch! It's almost a cliche now that this place doesn't look like a place that would be called "Hi-Way Harry's." Very classy interior with a waterfall; we were here with a large group and were seated in a function room with large windows and a beautiful, wooded view. There's also a patio outside for nice weather. The food was also definitely not your standard truck-stop fare -- far from it. The buffet was a whole room full of tables. The usual French toast and waffles, but also biscuits and gravy, eggs benedict, baked cod, country-style ribs, smoked salmon (presented as a whole fish, on ice), shrimp cocktail, a made-to-order omelette station, and an extensive dessert/pastry spread including doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, Oreo cheesecake, Butterfinger cheesecake, and much, much more. If you load up your plate, it's a cheap price for what you're getting ($15.95). Mimosas are $2 and Bloody Marys are $3. There is a decent selection of beers on draught. Coffee is free and bottomless - and the server actually does come back to refill your cup!

Three strikes and I'm not going back again. Johnson Creek is half way between my home and my mother's home, so we meet there a few times a year for some coffee or wine and appetizers or a meal. Appetizers have always been fine- not awesome, but fine. I've even had Milwaukee clients meet me there for business purposes, but that has only been in the bar for drinks. I've had great experiences there in the past. However, my past three experiences there have been very un-satisfying. This past summer, I joined my mother there for appetizers and coffee before the dinner hour started. We asked the bartender if we could sit at one of the tables, and that we were not having a full meal but apps and coffee. She was clearly perturbed that this was her job, not the waitress's. She sat us and it took forever to get my cup of coffee. When she served the coffee, she practically dropped it in front of me and walked away before we could order our appetizers. Food service was fine, but she was not quick to return for coffee refills. She was fairly rude and left me disappointed as most of my experiences there had been pleasant. A couple of weeks ago I met my mother there again for lunch. I ordered the Classic Burger. When it arrived, it looked very unappetizing. The meat was grey and had holes/indentations where you could tell it was pressed. The meat was way too big for the bun, which was kind of soggy from the grease. I had ordered swiss cheese and avocado, and the avocado wasn't fresh-looking. The taste didn't improve the experience, as it was flavorless and greasy. When the waiter inquired about our meal, I admitted it wasn't my favorite burger ever. He responded by saying that yeah, the signature burger was better. So I asked why this one was $1 more than the better burger, and he explained that they give away all the toppings for free on the Classic burger so that it tastes better, and it's a frozen patty. I was appalled that they would try to disguise and upsell a burger that they recognize is not a good one by giving away toppings- I figured that at $9.50 instead of $8.50, it would be the better buy. Not so! I was not offered anything to compensate for my poor experience with the meal. So tonight I figured I'd let the Signature burger redeem them, since it was supposed to be better. My husband and I both had one. To my dismay, it is NOT a better burger. They claim it has special seasonings, but the only thing I could decipher was some sort of cinnamon or other sweet flavor, which was weird. The avocado served alongside it was not only not fresh looking, but it wasn't even sliced- just a half an avocado slapped on the plate. I ordered the burger medium, but I can't even tell if that was right because the consistency was terrible. It didn't stay together or have the texture of a good burger- it practically fell out of the bun as I ate it because it crumbled apart. Towards the inside of the burger the texture was that of raw meat, but it wasn't raw meat. Yuck. I had also ordered ranch with my fries. When the "ranch" was served, the plastic ramekin was sloppy with spills on the side. It had the taste and consistency of mayonnaise- no speckles like you often find in ranch, no salty taste. I told the waitress, who brought me another sloppy ramekin of the same stuff and insisted it was the house ranch made right there. She also admitted she had tried it on a salad and it wasn't good. Who would serve a ranch dressing that is NOT good on a salad? All in all, I'm sad to lose this convenient meeting place, but I will not be returning to this restaurant unless they change their menu and insist on better service by some of their staff (not all- some are very nice). I suggest steering clear of the burgers, at the very least.

$2 mimosas and $3 bloody mary's at brunch if you're getting the buffet. The bloody isn't super flavorful, but it's decent. There's a good number of tap beers to choose from for a chaser. The mimosas are half champagne, half juice. It's not my ideal proportion, but it's better than a lot of Milwaukee institutions that charge 4x the amount for almost all OJ (ahem, Lowlands Group). You also get complimentary soda, juice and coffee with brunch. All this would earn them 5+ stars. For the overall brunch, I'd give it 3 stars. The food is ok for a buffet. There's a pretty good amount of options, everything from eggs benedict to country style ribs to made to order omelets. I'm probably not going to drive from Milwaukee to go to Hi-Way Harry's but if I'm going to Johnson Creek for shopping then I would DEFINITELY come back for a pre-shopping brunch.

Pretty place, but some of the plants are obviously plastic. The wait staff is not very attentive. It took a long time to get service. The menu has more misspellings than a kindergarten spelling bee and does not appear very professional. The food was ok. Not great. I ordered prime rib, my husband ordered the double pork chops. The pork was a bit dry and chewy. The Prime Rib (ordered rare) was medium - well. I was told there wasn't another choice that they were out of the rare. I asked for something else, which they also were out of. I finally settled on chicken. It was room temperature and tasteless. The baked potato I had was served room temperature and had the taste of being left over from the previous day and microwaved. Service was slow. At the end of our meal, our server came with our check AND her 5 day old grandchild in her arms to show us. Neither of us are "baby people", plus the kid appeared to have a snotty nose. Not something I really needed to see. I was a little grossed-out at that point. She asked us if we wanted our left-overs boxed, and I declined at the thought of her handling my food with a snotty nosed baby sneezing into it. We probably won't go back. It's a shame, as it's a pretty place and it's close. It's still better than Steakfire, though. Guess that isn't saying a lot, however.

For Johnson Creek this is a pretty nice place. If this place was in a larger city, I would probably rate at three stars. I had the lake perch, my wife had the catfish sandwich. Both were good. Everyone else in our party liked their food as well

First off this is a classier restaurant than what it's name suggests. It is upscale from the average family restaurant. The meals are higher priced, the atmosphere is somewhat sophisticated but comfortable. The central waterfall is unique and pleasant. Our service could have been a little more timely and we had to wait quite a while for our food to come. But our dishes were delicious and very well made. Large servings too. The price of our dishes were appropriate for the excellent job they did. They have some very nice selections on the menu. It is nice to find a place like this that is actually trying to bring back the fancier meals that we remember getting as kids when our parents took us out to eat. This is nothing like a Perkins or Family Restaurant.

I have been here about a dozen times because it is the most convenient place between Milwaukee and Madison to meet others. The atmosphere is nice and the staff have always been very friendly and attentive. The food is another story. I have never had anything that I could rate more than "just acceptable". How can you ruin a salad? Food is not hot. I had fish there one time that I can only describe as gristly - can fish be gristly? If you eat here, you're best off ordering something like a burger or a tuna melt. Berres Brothers is up the road a few miles. It is a lot like Panera so is a good place for lunch. The group I meet has pretty much switched to that place now. I am rating it 2 stars ONLY for the atmosphere and staff. Food would get one star.

Actual visit was on 2/15/12. I ordered Grilled pork tenderloin - Two 4oz with homemade cranberry mango glaze with green beans. First - what they call cranberry mango glaze was a 1/2 cup of cranberry mango mess piled on top of and covering the pork chops...... a GLAZE it was NOT. It didn't taste very good either. The pork chop itself was blah. My dining partner had the Pork wrapped in bacon and that was a little better. The green beans were blah. The carrot cake for dessert was blah ! It had a weird texture. The warm bread was good. I would not go back if I was in the area again. It does have a pretty cool water feature as soon as you walk in.

The dramatic interior architecture draws me to this place, despite the often lack luster food. Have tried their brunch twice. Once early in their service, one time later (an hour from the posted closing). Both times found it poorly maintained, sloppy and food that was barely warm. The open plates were devastated by the crowd before we arrived, even though that was 11 am. There were three pieces of bacon in a pool of grease and no sausage amongst the breakfast items. Biscuits and gravey were good, but cold and the biscuits were rather dried out. The bloody Mary was good, but the server couldn't order it until we decided if we wanted brunch. It is $3 with brunch and $5 with the menu. Crazy way of doing business. Serve the drink and figure out the price gouging later. I have enjoyed their steak sandwich at lunch. It was cooked to perfection and service has always been outstanding. If one wants to order here, stick to the menu. Their breakfast brunch is expensive, understocked, poorly maintained and not worthy of another try

After driving by this place several times a week for several years, I finally made good on my threat to eat there. I don't think they were prepared for the volume of business they had, so I'll not critique the service, but it was adequate. My meal (chicken parmesan) was just OK. The sauce needs a bit more zip, and the pasta was hardly inspirational, as it had too little of the flat blah sauce. The sauteed squash was really boring, and needed help in the flavor department. I think if someone suggested the place for lunch, I would go, but try a sandwich instead.

We were told this was THE place to go in Johnson Creek. Not that there are that many to choose from. The establishment when entering looked a little dated and definitely have had better days... We came for lunch and that day they happened to have a buffet. There was no option. Buffet or nothing so we went for the buffet. The buffet was big and in a seperate room. Lots of choices. I don't know how to put it but it all seemed a little tired, just like the building, carpets, chairs etc. And perhaps it also just seemed like it needed a deepcleaning. What stands out the most is that it seemed overly dark in the room and it was such a blessing to get out in daylight again when we finished. The food tastes fine enough but there was nothing spectacular about it either. Service was friendly but then again we weren't offered refills of our drinks and so forth. I guess it is 2,5 stars because really there was nothing exceptionally bad but again there also wasn't anything exceptionally good about it.

When I first walked in I though, wow, this place is beautiful! There is an ornate waterfall/pond deal right at the entrance, and a ramp that goes up and over it to get to the dining area and bar. However, that was the only time I thought wow throughout my time there. No, I suppose I thought "Wow, this server is terrible," at some point. First off, our server did not tell us any of the specials, and when we inquired about them, didn't know them anyway. And then when she supposedly figured them out, she got them wrong. I might be hyper-critial of service, but that's ridiculous, really. Drink refills were not forthcoming, and actually, one of the people I was with didn't even receive a drink until the meal came, even after several reminders. The food was wholly unremarkable, I had the seared tuna, which was less seared and more medium rare. The salad had terrible presentation and so-so taste. Everyone else ordered pasta, which was comparable to something you might make at home, not spend $13 on at a restaurant. However, my little sister, who is 4, was really excited about the "super pretty" bathrooms.

Not sure what the history of this place is, but it looks like a grand supper club that was sold to someone else that is trying to make a go of it. Architecturally, the place is interesting. However, there are ten large clay pots on a beam only three of which have living plants. The waterfall is grand and the interior illusion is sort of "falling water" Frank Lloyd Wrightish. The waiter was very helpful, but there were only three couples in the place at lunch. I had French Dip and the beef was tough and just sort of thrown in the toasted bun in two clumps. My wife had Caribbean Jerk Chicken which she didn't think was freshly prepared. We would not go back, and I can't imagine the place draws a large clientele from the surrounding area. It mostly apparently catches people desperate to have a lunch en route without having to stop at McDonalds. One has the impression that the place is way too big for the staff trying to run it for a few customers. It's also very hard to find because the only access is off of a side-road behind a gas station.

I would only recommend this place for drinks. I'm a Johnson Creek local and have tried this place numerous times, hoping for better results. Simply put, the food is awful. It has a decent atmosphere at the bar - just stay away from the food!
